My Story
Lia Larrea is a multidisciplinary artist and designer, creative strategist, and educator whose work explores the intersection of craftsmanship, art, and technology. Working across fashion design, wearable objects, photography, AI systems and material-based practices, including glass, ceramics, and organic matter - her approach combines analogue techniques with digital tools to investigate fit, form, movement, and emotional translation. Lia’s practice functions as a bridge between cultures, using both verbal and non-verbal language to explore identity, material intelligence, and the evolving role of technology as a shaping force and creative collaborator.
Lia holds a Master’s degree in Fashion & Technology from the University of Art and Design in Linz, Austria, with additional studies through Erasmus at the Swedish School of Textiles in Sweden, and a BFA in Fashion Design from the Art Institute of California–San Francisco. She launched her fashion label while in residence at the Macy’s Fashion Incubator in San Francisco and has designed for Silicon Valley technology companies, dressed television talent, and collaborated internationally across the U.S., Europe, and Latin America. Her work has been featured by NBC, Univision, Forbes, the San Francisco Chronicle among others; exhibited at institutions including Kunstlerhaus Vienna and the Ars Electronica art and society festival. Lia’s most recent project was selected for the permanent archive of the Corning Museum of Glass. Lia has taught fashion and technical design in higher education for over a decade and is currently exploring the next chapter of her practice, following acceptance as a PhD candidate.
Open to Collaboration.
